Synopsis:
No new snow since last report. Conditions up at Northstar were quite enjoyable condsidering the lack of snowpack. Top to bottom skiing with just enough to keep a smile on your face all day. Hell, its still November into early December and California, in its past, has performed worse. Being the week after Thanksgiving, the mountain was dead…a bonus when teaching a 3 year old how to ski. Another bonus is to convince Obscure Reference to leave Red Dog at Squaw and actually get some long turns in for the season…of course, it wouldn’t be a proper ski outing without a collision with some dude without poles on his first run. Luckily everyone involved escaped injury free. :-)>br />
Its not going to be pow for awhile, so strap on your race stock skis, stack those lifter plates, and let er’ rip. Oh and by the way, slalom skis pretty much rule!
Conditions looking good off-piste…
So good, that we are headed to magic carpet to say hello to Dookey!
Laps to the Village Gondola looked like this…
Obscure Reference showed up ready to carve…
…Ready to tuck…
…Ready to burn those quads….
Its not POW, but its still fun!
…Saturation of slicing….
Almost edge deep…
Massive lineup for the pow slayage….
Back over at the Big Easy…
This guy finally wears a helmet…score!
But then takes a wrong turn AWAY from the snow…
While he naps, I run out to see if it snowed…IT DID!
But it did get a tad windy…
Views weren’t so bad…for SUMMER!
Testing out my new Tahoes…yep, these will work.
The next morning, it continued to snow….
So the Mrs and I spent the morning together….too many people.
Back to the hard work…
Skiing to the Gondola is SO EXCITING!
Time to carve….
That night, kids were having a blast ice skating…
Roasting marshmallows is pretty extreme right?
Santa came by and I asked for a massive storm…he laughed. The candy cane made up for it though.
The following morning, I had the corduroy to myself…
…especially on these….
…Carvetastic!
