Steam, Extreme & Queens of Queenstown – 09/09/06
Date: September 8th-9th, 2006
Location(s): Lake Wakatipu, Icebar – Queenstown, and the Alta Chutes at the Remarks.
Skiers: Husband and wife team from hell.
Synopsis: After a late night, waking up to a soggy weather day, and a late mid-week bruch with Slim and SQ99 (who left to hang with Lane Meyer), we decided to go the "Yank Tourist" route and hitch a ride on the Earnslaw across the lake. After a romantic dinner, we also hit up the bar made out of ice called, yep, the Ice Bar. If that wasn’t the HIGHLIGHT of the trip, the next day we hit .9 cm new in the Alta Chutes…life could not be better.
Music: Scissor Sisters – ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancing’
First, let’s take a ride on the historic, coal-infused, steam ship…
Mrs. 666 approved once we hit hyperspeed…
Its a big lake, kinda reminds of a lake I visit at home….
"Lets swim to shore….wait….oh its winter"
Best Lamb stew in the country…Mmmmmm Tasty!
Watch out though, its a little toxic…
Good thing for sea sickness, or I would have missed one of the best restaurants in town. Yes, that’s it, behind the door on the left. Marketing has not made it to NZ as of 2006….
One too many Moscow Mules, and you start acting wierd around Kiwi bird statues…
Oooooooh, Ahhhhhhh, nice night at the Queenstown harbor. Looks like we’ll be skiin’ tomorrow!
After the Ice Bar of course…Pretty sick!
Does it look cool? Yeah. But is it worth it? What do you think? Mrs. 666 feeling LAME.
Well, until two dudes showed up in their butt-huggers. Did I mention it was Gay Ski Week?
OMG, sickest photo ever, I don’t care, I’m claiming it…
Pictures sometimes make the snow look better, when in actuality, its shit…
The Mrs. ignores the sign of despair as we start the massively deep bootpack…
That’s right bitches, .9 cm of fresh and its ALL OURS!!!!!
Mrs. 666 wished she demoed some fatties of at least 140mm underfoot…
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
She milked the deeper area on the skier’s right for a couple runs…
666 goes for some sloppy seconds…
Not bad for having it all to ourselves for a whole afternoon…
