April 27th, 2007….year of the Monsta’ snowpack

LOCATION:

Sonora Pass, California with short walk to Leavitt Peak @ 11,569

Extremely extreme ski/board mountaineers:

666, bcrider, mmcpheet, JT, puffnattie and powderjunkie.

CLIMATE:

Bluebird, no wind, and a cloud. My car read 55 F at 5:30 pm so I’m guessing it was in the 50’s for most of our journey.

SYNOPSIS:

Park on the pass, drink some water, hike up to Leavitt Peak, ski down, hike up again, ski down to the road, and then hitch a ride back to the car. Along the way, try to ski some corn snow in wide open bowls, and a hint of winter snow off Leavitt. At 8:20 am, the skin track started. However, we arrived back to our modes of transport at around 5:00 pm.

666 arrived in about 3 hours…warp speed, no traffic.

bcrider took the Comis for a spin…

…and tried to kill mmcpeet to sell his body parts on Ebay

Remember Leroy Jenkins?….that was so hot in 2006…

bcrider could not be any slower. JT lapped us many times.

Up the first ridge, I see our objective…

But first, bcrider must carve his way to the base of Leavitt Peak…

We’ll hit the “Y” first…

“Which one should we hit?” 666 responds with arm signals….

bcrider slogs his way up to the summit…

Skins come off right dad?

A rare sight caught on 101010101010’s. A skier and a boarder converse.

I mean, it does have a nice backdrop….

Again, JT seems to be having a little too much of a good thing…

666 is up and makes a carve just below the glacier…

Bcrider was with us, and he decided to “snowboard” down this CHUTE! OMG!

….he slaps a scenic ridge with funky soft-ice.

666 orders a latte…

Mmcpheet aka The invisible assassin, runs the gut…

I mean, c’mon dude, you’re just doing this for the internet ski nerds…

That JT guy LOVES to hike….here he is booting up this chute while we rehydrate.

After one sip, he’s already skiing down…AMAZING!

Yep, you guess it. JT passed us up on the skintrack on the way back up.

Cool scenery aye?

I love scree, especially when wearing Tecnicas….feels good when it bangs on your knee.

Onward to our next project…

Powderjunkie gets some corn instead of powder. Funny, he didn’t complain at all…

And then enjoys the snow on the next face…

Bcrider, however, gets his jump on….

666 completes the first ever “river schmear”…

…into the hollow snow to granite bonk.

We tried to hitch, but JT already made it to his ride, and picked us up in about 2.3 mins…

Big day for the six’er…he collapsed on HWY 108…
