Synopsis:

A sunny trip to Kirkwood filled with 2 year old meltdowns, the same conditions, on the same runs…

The following weekend IT ACTUALLY SNOWED! By snow, I mean almost a foot of the white stuff! With an invite to head to Northstar for the weekend with some friends, we arrived just in time to rally a day of groomers to get ready for the dust on crust. Did I mention the offpiste was dirt before the storm? Our pow laps turned out to be a few inches of pow over man-made glacier ice…oh well…it still was awesome to see some snow!

January 26th, 2014

Summer in January in the city…

Will it ever rain again?

Still as can be…where’s the Sea Doo?

Searching for snow pano…

Mini-Jets and first day with SKI POLES!

After dropping of the older brother, dad and daughter headed up to slay Snowkirk!

Stoked to test out those 65cm Moments eh?

Dad, lets hit the steeper green run…

So what am I supposed to do again?

A little hesitant to ski on her own…not being able to stop may play a role in that.

At lunchtime, Dad took a few runs off of Chair 6…

Yep, look at the coverage on Red Cliffs across the valley…

Groomers were firm but still carveable…

Just make sure you lay into the carves on the edge of the run (hint: where there’s snow)

Not much off-piste skiing in Tahoe at the moment…but some fun to be had on Olympic

Even better chalky steep turns in Oops & Poops…

I’m totally having fun…

Another lap on Olympic finding ‘natural snow’…

Headed over to the mini-chutes on the left of Olympic…

Overall, Parker did awesome even if we did blow off her nap…

THOSE MY POLES BRO?

February 1st, 2014

I may have the record for the owning the most iphones…exactly 30 days since my last replacement, this happens after the phone fell into the snow for one second…literally one second. Yes, I tried putting the phone in rice. 🙂

Who’s exited to ride Northstar? These kids for sure!

Is that snow on the trees?

The backside felt wintery despite the lack of any base…

Blue skies and snow covered trees…

Zoomed to the North…

Squaw Valley USA from the backside of Northstar…

Time for CANDY!

The next day the kid was super excited to check out the ice sculptures…

We rallied some early cord down the Village Run…

Super crowded…

This may look boring, but remember, this is on new ‘natural snow’ corduroy!

Time to let them run…

Niam was straight up killing it with his new poles…

Alright kids, have fun! Daddy needs to haul ass down some of the groomers on the backside…

Please tell me that’s not the last storm…
